Pheasant Season
New Hampshire's pheasant hunting is made possible by dozens of generous landowers who've offered their properties as stocking release sites. This fall, about 13,000 adult ring-necked pheasants will be released in all 10 counties at intervals during the three-month season, an average of 120 birds per site.
Pheasant season:
Oct. 1-Dec. 31
Daily limit: 2
Season limit: 10
Pheasant license required

Towns to be stocked with Ring-Necked Pheasants - 2001

Note: The N.H. Fish and Game Department does not reveal the locations of pheasant stocking sites on private lands. It is the hunter's responsibility to find suitable habitat for pheasants in those towns. The Department, however, does list locations of stocking sites on public lands, which are listed below. While hunting on private lands, please treat those locations with respect. Landowners have generously offered these lands as stocking sites; if their trust with the public is broken, landowners can withdraw these sites from the stocking program.

Season Outlook
By Karen Bordeau,
pheasant project leader

The hearty cackle of ring-necked pheasants on October 1st can be very exciting for the game bird hunter. As many hunters will attest, these birds are very crafty and often outsmart and outrun even the most experienced hunters.

Pheasant hunters continue to support the Department and stocking program with the purchase of a pheasant license.
This year 13,000 adult ring-necked pheasants will be purchased and released in all 10 counties.

The pheasant season runs Oct.1 through Dec. 31, with a daily limit of 2, and a season limit of 10. Pheasant hunters must purchase a pheasant license with their hunting license.

The tradition of pheasant hunting is available because private landowners continue to allow hunters access and areas to hunt pheasants in New Hampshire. Please take the time to thank these landowners for their generosity.
